So is there anyway to salvage rusted bearings. My bearings just got rusted but there not like really badly rusted but they still dont spin anyone got any ideas of a way to get them working again. If not I'll have to buy some more.

Spray the hell out of them with wd-40.

Should fix them.

wd-40 makes bearings worse. its only a temp fix that works for little while.
as soon as you stop skating, theyll be worse off than before.

time to throw down the cash for new ones man, they're screwed

I use to wd-40 my Speed Demons, for over a year. They still run smooth and fast as hell. So I don't see why people think it ruins them.

i dont understand how that worked... did you just keep putting wd-40 on them everyday?

ye I have already done this if there already seized wd40 definitley didnt work. I suppose if you keep putting it on them they wouldnt get rusted but it might ruin the bearings performance. Also I have a question what abec rating are bones reds (I know it doesn't make a massive difference) because the guy where I bought my first set said they where abec 3 but then on ebay some guy claims there abec 7.

WD 40 is crap when the bearing already is rusted! If you find a shop that sells valvoline oil, you can find a spray from valvolie that is called "penetrating rust spray". fill a cup with this and let the bearings lie for 24 hours. the spray starts to corrode the rust away from the bearing. I use it all the time.

After that just lube them up with som sort of oil and your god to go dude!

i think your could do with new ones if there rusted over.
try bones reds there good and not too expensive, well bout 20 here.

08-28-2008, 07:22 AM
yeh bones reds are a bout 20 or you can get rush ABEC5s for like, 10

Well if the bearings are actually rusted then it wont work. But if it just has rust inside the bearings it does. I don't know your bearings actually rusted over. Just get a new set.

na thts the thing there not completely rusted over theres just a little ring of rust around each ball bearing. I already bought some new bearings of ebay but I will see if I can get some of that valvoline stuff.

If you have sand paper, you can rub off the rust with it.

reds dont have an abec rating. anyone who tells you they do. has no idea what they are talking about.

buy reds, cheap, fast, and better than any "abec" bearing there is. abec is a useless measurement imo
Merging doublepost
just buy speed cream and find instructions hwo to properly clean your bearings. clean em wrong and youll screw em up

soak overnight in simple green, rinse with water, lube up, and roll

09-18-2008, 10:32 PM
soak them in rubbing alcohol for 15 minutes, dry them off, and spray with wd 40- it worked for me, and the beard, i only put wd on there one time and they are actually getting faster (i sprayed them 3 months ago) they never really got slower

when my bearings rusted, which was just a little bit of rust... I just skated em hard, I pushed as hard as I could for as long as I could and now they work just as good as they did before...you could try that? lol I dunno worked for me..

3 & 1 helps alot put them in like a little bowl of it let it sit over night come back and try them out if they dont work then WD40 same thing.

After one cleaning, except for Bones Swiss, I'd just get new ones anyway.

Redz are cheap and skate exceptionally. I just got some Bones Swiss and they skate like a dream.

i have a set of reds that i wd40'd after they got rusty and they are still really fast. just spray them out with wd40 then let them drain out on a cloth then put some oil in them. thats how i clean bearings and its worked fine for me so far.

I don't see why everyone says that WD-40 ruins your bearings. Sometimes I skate out in the rain and my bearings are rusty the next day. I just give each one a spray of WD-40 on each side, and there good to go.

Dude just buy new ones... it saves you alot more time then trying to fix old ones

wd-40 leaves buildup.
just buy a set of reds. you'll never regret it.

my reds have never failed me
